Bruce: I'm envy of Premier League

Steve Bruce believes he is the envy of many Premier League managers because of his excellent working relationship with Dave Whelan.
The resignations of Kevin Keegan at Newcastle and Alan Curbishley as West Ham boss has highlighted the growing interference managers are experiencing from the boardroom.

Bruce is his own man at Latics, given a free hand to decide his transfer policy and run the football side of the club.
He thinks more managers could have power taken away from them as clubs fall under the control of rich foreign investors.

Bruce told the Evening Post: "I must have the ideal chairman to work for – Dave Whelan is English, is a football person and wants his team to do well.
"He never interferes in what I do at all – I think I'm the envy of a lot of managers.

"When I speak to other club managers, they crave to just be left alone to do their job.
"If you fail doing it your way, that's fine – you know what the consequences will be, so in that respect I'm very lucky.

"Which manager in their own right wouldn't want a say in a club's policy on transfers?
"You have to be responsible for transfers, responsible for the players you put out on the pitch to try to win matches.

"It works differently on the Continent, but that isn't the right way to do things over here."

Manchester City were the latest club to fall under foreign ownership last week, taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, West Ham, Portsmouth and Aston Villa all have overseas investors.

Indeed you are Brucie, not many other managers would get the team with whom they share their stadium with, effectively locked out of it, when its their most important match of the season and what the past 27 rounds of Super League have been working towards, EH?

That ground has been turned around in less than 24 hours before, and it can be done again, there is no reason for us not to be allowed the JJB on Friday night!

It's because of people like your good self Cherry, that makes this very funny. It will be even funnier if some of you do turn up on Saturday. Your face will be cherry coloured with rage as the good Latics folk point and laugh! Please, please arrange something.

Does anyone know who holds the deeds to the JJB?
because i thought Mr W sold Wigan warriors rugby league club NOT the JJB? so who has the right to play on it?
and you will find its the boys in blue and white, so i;d not kick up to much of a fuss because the rent you rugby rifraf pay may soon not be enough!!!!!!

interesting to see the latics fans are from ashton. not that im saying ashton is rough, nor am i saying that it's ironic that the only time latic's fans comment on here is when it's got something to do with the rugby.
